MAYBE I haven’t seen it, but has there been any correspondence regarding the floodlights at the (Cooper Associates) County Ground?
The visual effect on the whole of the town centre is possibly the most appalling thing that has happened here during my lifetime, and there has been plenty of unpleasant change in that time.
The skyline, once quite appealing with the church spires, is now dominated by these ugly and intrusive structures and I can hardly believe that our planners have allowed this to happen and that I am the only one who sees them in this way.

The local planners spend much time and effort in preventing small developments, some times of questionable taste, but let this go by without any apparent effort to stop it.
This seems strange in light of last week's stories regarding a “vision” for Taunton ('Garden town plan revealed', County Gazette, February 28).
Would the local authority care to explain?
