A PAIR of metal detectorists unearthed more than 200 Roman coins on farmland in Bishops Lydeard.
A total of 15 of the coins found by Paul Saxton and Jason Bridges, dating from 253AD to 274AD, have been declared treasure and are likely to be bought by the Museum of Somerset.
A treasure inquest in Taunton on Tuesday heard that 173 of the coins were found in one haul, while the others had been lost separately.
Some of the coins were lead forgeries.
A number of fragments of Roman pottery was also discovered at the site during the find in January 2017.
