MAGISTRATES have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Taunton man and woman who were found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to a cat after they failed to turn up for a court hearing.

Paul John Addicott and Rebecca Anne Jeffery, both of Massingham Park, Taunton, were ordered to appear before magistrates at Taunton Magistrates Court on Wednesday (March 13) but failed to attend their sentencing hearing.

Addicott and Jeffery are charged that between June 14, 2018 and September 14, 2018 in Taunton, they caused unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, namely a domestic semi-long haired white male cat, by failing to seek appropriate professional veterinary care to explore and address the cause of a chronic skin condition contrary to Section 4(1) of the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

As a result the magistrates issued a warrant for Addicott and Jeffery's arrest where they will be brought to the court on a future date in custody.
