A FORMER DJ raped a 16-year-old girl at a wedding, a court has heard.

Christopher Reynolds - who used the professional name Chris Young when he presented programmes on Apple FM - denies the alleged incident in 1989 took place.

He has also pleaded not guilty at his trial at Taunton Crown Court to 12 charges of indecent assault on a girl aged under 16 and one of indecent assault on a girl under 14.

Reynolds, 57, of Poplar Road, Taunton, who also used to work as a labourer, is also jointly charged with his former partner Julia Wildman of witness intimidation. They both deny the charge.

The court heard that Reynolds used to drive one of his victims to under 18s discos where he was working in Bridgwater.

He admitted he used "banter" language to the girl but said he could not remember if he once threw stones at her window in a "Romeo and Juliet sort of gesture".

Reynolds admitted he had had an affair with another woman when he was married and his marriage ended following rumours he was seeing other women in clubs where he worked.

And after the girl who has accused him of indecent assaults told Reynolds' wife they were having an affair, it "broke" his marriage.

He is accused of later meeting the girl after she turned 16 at a wedding, when he is said to have asked to talk to her outside, claiming his ex wife was planning to tell the girl's parents of the sexual affair. Reynolds denies the incident.

The couple more recently exchanged Facebook messages, with Reynolds, who claims he is dyslexic and can hardly read or write, alleged to have written: "I'm sorry I upset you...last time I saw you you were on my bed."

The trial continues.
