VISITORS had a blooming good time at Wellington Flower Show.

This year's event took place at the slightly later date of Saturday, April 6, at Wellington School.

But holding the show later in the year meant lots of daffodil and tulip displays.

The show also welcomed some new exhibitors this year, as well as seeing more visitors than the year before.

Sheena Page, show secretary, said: "The judge, Colin Trewren, formerly of Taunton Deane Parks Department, did a thorough job and was impressed by the standard of the exhibits.

"Visitors were able to buy plants from Whitepost Nursey and Chelston Nurseries and jewellery was also for sale.

"The Somerset Wildlife Trust was also there to promote its valuable work.

"Visitor numbers were up on last year which was pleasing."

The summer show is set to take place on August 31 at the ARC Centre in Wellington School.

Wellington Flower Show is run by a small group of gardening enthusiasts who receive no financial support. The team rely on sponsorship and advertising in the published schedules.

Ms Page added: "The schedules can be viewed online and hard copies will be available soon.

"We are looking for sponsorship for the championship classes and some new advertisers.

"If you would like to help the show, please get in touch.

"In the meantime, get sowing and planting for the summer show."
