A NEW Indian restaurant is opening in Taunton later this month.
Yarami - which means 'guest friend' - will serve up its first curries from the evening of Tuesday, April 30.
It is opening up in Bridge Street, in premises previously occupied by the Sumo Japanese restaurant.
For owner Rezaum 'Raj' Uddin it is a return to Taunton - he ran Uddins in East Reach for 20 years, as well as businesses in Weston-super-Mare and Seaton - until he took a few years out due to personal reasons.
Raj said: "We'll be offering traditional Indian curries, but we'll be a modern curry house.
"We've had a new kitchen put in and the menu will be home cooking on a daily basis - everything will be fresh.
"We'll be trying to support local suppliers as much as possible."
Raj added: "Having been out of the game for a few years, I'm really looking forward to opening after a long break."
Yarami will open for lunches between noon and 2pm and in the evenings from 5pm to 11pm.
