US member of congress Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will NOT be attending this year's Glastonbury Festival, your County Gazette can reveal.
The Democrat - widely known by her initials AOC - has been a mainstay of news headlines in the States since being elected in last year's Mid-Term Elections, becoming the youngest woman ever to serve in Congress at the age of 29.
Her policies, including the Green New Deal which aims to address climate change and support for Medicare For All, have seen her targeted by conservatives - and adored by progressives.
At the weekend, The Sunday Times said she had been invited to attend the event, at Worthy Farm, Pilton, in June, and that it was unclear whether she had accepted the invitation, which would have seen her following in the footsteps of Jeremy Corbyn, who made several speeches at the 2017 festival - including to a huge crowd at the Pyramid Stage.
However, responding to your County Gazette, a spokesperson for Rep Ocasio-Cortez said she "will not be attending Glastonbury this year".
