FAUST will be screened live at the Minehead Regal from the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden.

Gounod’s best-loved opera Faust will be screened live at the Minehead Regal from the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden on Tuesday April 30 at 6.45pm.

The decadence and elegance of 1870s Paris come vividly to life in David McVicar’s spectacular Royal Opera production.

There are many versions of the story of Faust, who trades his soul with the devil in return for youth and power, but Gonod’s opera remains one of the most constantly enthralling.

Michael Fabiano stars as Faust, with Diana Damrau as his beloved Marguerite and Erwin Schrott as the diabolical Mephistophélès.

Virtuoso leading roles, a large chorus, sensational sets, ballet and an ecstatic finale make this the epitome of theatrical spectacle and a wonderful example of the lavish scale of French grand opera.

Above all, the music includes several of popular opera’s most recognisable numbers, performed by a cast of great international singers and the Royal Opera Chorus.

The opera is sung in French, with English surtitles.  The approximate running time is three hours and 45 minutes, including one interval.

Tickets for the live screening cost £15.
