THE owner of a Taunton kitchen store says business has been ‘growing’ over the last seven years and he is looking forward to the future.

Roddy Gordon, 44, of Oake, owns the store with his father, Malcolm, and employs four fitters who travel across Somerset to provide people with their dream kitchen.

The store, in Station Road, sells kitchen doors, units, appliances and worktops as well as packages which allow customers to design their own kitchen.

Roddy said: “We have been here for seven years and businesses is growing and growing.

“We have four fitters who work with us regularly and all of our fitters are locally approved traders.

“Even though they are sub-contractors, I like to think of them as our team, they do a fantastic job.

“We pride ourselves on being a family run business.

“My son, Vinny, works in the store and my brother-in-law, Jeff, works as a fitter for us. “

Roddy said a range of new worktop and door colours will be making their way into the store in the coming months and some of them, which have already been released, have been a hit with customers.

“We have already launched a few new modern colours for kitchen doors and worktops this year and so far we have had a great response from customers,” Roddy said.

“We will be launching more as the year goes on and we are excited about that.

“We can fit and help customers design their ideal kitchen whether that be in a modern style or a classic farmhouse style and make sure we do a thorough consultation with customers so they get the kitchen they want.

“We can also fit new doors to units and these can completely change the appearance of your kitchen.”

Roddy said he is looking forward to the future and he thinks residents should do their best to support local businesses.

“Later this year we will be doing our bit to support the Riding for the Disabled Association by entering into a golf day which has been successful in the past,” Roddy said.

“I think people in Taunton should definitely support local, independent businesses.

“As much as the big brands are good, local businesses can provide people with a completely different shopping experience - and supporting them helps the local economy.

“And you can get things from a local business that you just can’t get from big high street stores.

“I am looking forward to launching the new kitchen colours this year - and seeing our business continue to grow.”
