A SOMERSET running club hosted a memorial run to raise funds for Alzheimers Research UK.

Forty members of the Quantock Harriers running club and their families came together on April 18 to donate their running miles to help fight dementia.

Debs Eele, organiser of the event , said the event was a big success.

She said: “One of our club coaches sadly lost her mum to dementia at the start of April.

“In times of bereavement people often wonder how they can support and show they care, so I proposed we ran together and dedicate our miles to Alzheimer’s Research.”

Members of the club regularly take part in running events across Somerset to raise money for charity.

Jerome Timbrell, chairman of the Quantock Harriers, said: “Lindsey is our friend as well as our coach, so when Debs suggested the idea we were all for it.

“Raising money for charity is an important part of the club, we have several members currently training for London and Exeter Marathons in aid of a variety of charities, and many members have done so in the past”.
