MOTHERS rose up in Taunton on Sunday as part of a global demonstration to highlight the need for action to prevent climate breakdown.
The event, organised by the Mothers Rise Up! group, saw parents gather in the County Town before marching around the town centre, culminating in a picnic in Vivary Park.
Hundreds joined the protest, chanting for action in the fight against climate change.
A spokesperson for Mothers Rise Up said: "This is for the mother who knows climate change is personal. For the mother who can't hold her children tight enough when she thinks of their future. This is for the mother who has had enough of feeling helpless. For the mother who can bear the inaction of our government no longer. This is for the mother who may have never marched before, but whose feet are already moving. This is your march!
"There is nothing more powerful than a mother’s instinct to protect her child."
The march coincided with International Mothers' Day.
