AROUND 25,000 people turned out for a sunny food festival in Taunton.

Eat:Taunton took place on Saturday, May 11, bringing the sunshine and lots of yummy food and drinks for event goers.

This was the third event to take place in Taunton for the Eat:Festivals team, who hold successful and award-winning events elsewhere in the county throughout the year.

The festival encourages people to walk or cycle to the event, and the use of single-use plastics is discouraged.

Festival organiser Sarah Milner Simonds said: “This was probably our best festival to date it was amazing to see such a wide range of producers been shown off to such an appreciative audience.

"Being proud of the land is something that runs through the heart of our work and Taunton certainly was an appreciative audience."

The organisers crowned three winners at the festival.

Hawksmoor Investment Management sponsored the best in show competition and winners Harry’s Cider and White Lake Cheeses were very pleased to win.

The festival also chose its annual Local Food Hero for 2019, bestowing this honour on Stream Farm, a share farm based in Broomfield, near Bridgwater.

Mrs Milner Simonds said: "The farm is an excellent match of the festival’s ethics and values, they have the highest level of animal welfare and quality of produce coming from their farm."
