FLOODLIGHTS, play equipment and a multi use games area (MUGA) could be installed in a village park - at no cost to the council taxpayer.
Creech St Michael Parish Council has submitted a planning application for the the extra items at Creech Recreational Park, off Leighton Drive.
It outlines proposals for a play zone and birds nest tree units of play equipment, as well as the lights and MUGA.
The facilities would enable sporting events including five-a-side football, futsal, tennis, basketball and badminton.
The improvements could be funded by cash from three developers who have built homes in the village, according to a statement accompanying the application to Somerset West and Taunton Council planners.
In a letter to the district council, parish clerk Steve Altria said: "The parish council intention it to install a second MUGA, a trim trail and some play equipment in the council recreation park, which the parish council understands does not require planning permission.
"The application is in respect of lighting to the existing and the additional MUGA and for two centre pieces of play equipment which are above four metres high."
