BRIDGWATER Operatic Society have announced that the world famous Black Dyke Band are performing for their major fund raising event in August.

The Black Dyke Band, the most famous brass band in the world, will present a concert under its music director Professor Nicholas Childs in the magnificent setting of St. Mary’s Church in Bridgwater.

With almost four hundred recordings to its name, an Oscar nomination for music and sell out concerts in the Sydney Opera House, New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall in London and to rave reviews on the Pyramid stage at the Glastonbury Festival, the band will be sure to provide an afternoon of music making of the very highest quality.

A society representative commented: “By bringing this world famous ensemble to Bridgwater we are showing our commitment to presenting the very finest artists for local people to enjoy and this year, given our drive to improve facilities at our headquarters, the band’s appearance is even more welcome!”
