A DOCTORS' surgery is putting on sessions to help parents cope with the challenges of children as they begin to grow up.

Taunton Doctors, based at Victoria Gate, is launching a Taunton Patenting Café for mums and dads of youngsters aged from nine to their teens.

Ruth James, who puts on Building Confident and Resilient Teenagers courses for the practice, is organising and running the café at Company Spaces, 2 Bridge Street.

Tea, coffee and sweet treats will be on offer for free at the first event on Monday, June 24, at 7pm.

Mrs James said: "Setting up a parenting café in Taunton has been my dream for a number of years.

"The café is an opportunity for parents to meet together to discuss parenting challenges and find mutual support in a warm, friendly and non-judgemental space.

"I will be on hand to give parenting support and advice as well as answer any questions parents may have."

Taunton Doctors managing director Dr Chritian Hornung said: "We are excited about this new initiative for Taunton Doctors.

"Our vision is to provide affordable services which support the health and well-being of our local community.

"I can’t think of anything more worthwhile than supporting parents in building positive relationships with their children as well as helping them manage the teenage challenges."

Depending on demand, the café could become a monthly event.
