A SOMERSET community has been left devastated at news one of their own has died while on holiday in Majorca.

Freddie Pring - also known by the name Freddie MacVicar - a popular member of Minehead Barbarians RFC whose family is based in Watchet, is understood to have died in the early hours of Friday morning at a holiday resort in Magaluf.

A statement from the Minehead Barbarians Rugby Club said: "It is with deepest sadness that we have to inform you that one of our own, Freddie Pring, has been involved in an accident abroad and has passed away.

"Our love and condolences reach out to everyone that knew Freddie."

A spokesperson from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: "We are assisting the family of a British man who has died in Magaluf, and we are in contact with the local authorities."

Since news of the death emerged, friends on social media have been changing their profile pictures to the badge of Freddie's rugby team, Minehead Barbarians.
