THE owners of a Burnham-on-Sea pub said they hope to reopen 'as soon as possible' after firefighters battled for hours to extinguish a fire at the venue.

Multiple fire crews were called to The Rosewood Pub in Love Lane, Burnham-on-Sea, at around 2.15pm on Saturday (June 15) following reports of a kitchen fire.

Firefighters battled for more than two hours to bring the fire under control but sadly the pub was severely smoke,fire and heat damaged as a result of the incident.

A spokesperson for Greene King, which owns The Rosewood, thanked the emergency services for their 'swift and professional response' and said they hope to reopen the venue 'as soon as possible.'

“The pub was evacuated on Saturday (June 15) after a fire broke out in the kitchen area of the pub," the spokesperson said. "Emergency services were called and there was an orderly evacuation.

"Fortunately no-one was injured.

"Our surveyors are currently assessing the property and we hope to re-open the pub as soon as possible.

"We’d like to thank the emergency services for their swift and professional response and our customers for their understanding.”
