SEVERAL Somerset charities have received a boost to their coffers thanks to funds raised by Burnham-on-Sea Rotary Club.

On Friday, June 14, the rotary club held a charity ball at the Batch Country House and presented cheques to The Huntspill Federation of Schools, Burnham Sea Cadets, the King Alfred School Academy Cookery Club, the Burnham branch of the RNLI and Burnham Information and Rescue Service (BIARS).

More than 70 people attended the charity ball and were entertained by a magician, a charity auction and a live performance from musician Jordan Hill .

The club said it will have raised more than £800 for rotary charities later this month and more presentations will be made in two weeks time when current President Ashley Edwards hands over the reigns to his successor, Terry Spragg.

A spokesman for the rotary club, said the event was a big success and they are always looking for new members to join their group.
