FIREFIGHTERS rescued a woman from a house fire in a village near Wellington.
999 operators gave the woman "fire survival guidance" until crews arrived on the scene and led her to safety.
Two crews from Wellington and one from Taunton were called to the incident in Riverside, Hemyock, at 5.50pm yesterday (Wednesday).
The home was full of smoke with the woman still inside when firefighters arrived.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Fire control gave fire survival guidance to the occupier until the crews arrived.
"On arrival crews confirmed that the property was heavily smoked logged and they removed one adult female from the property.
"The fire was confined to the cooker in the kitchen."
The woman was given first aid by the crews until paramedics arrived.
The spokesman said a saucepan was fire damaged.
