‘THE staff go the extra mile to make you and your relatives feel valued. I cannot thank them all enough for what they did for us.’

Those are the words of Della Brewer who has thanked staff at Kingsleigh Residential Home in Burnham-on-Sea for the care they gave to her mother, Betty Atherton, in the seven months before her death.

Betty, who suffered from advanced dementia, moved into the care home in Berrow Road in September 2018 and lived there until her death in April this year.

Della said the care home’s staff were ‘friendly’ and ‘go the extra mile’ to help out residents and their families and the Berrow Road care home is ‘an asset’ to the town.

“I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Kingsleigh, they were all absolutely amazing to me and my mother while she lived there,” Della said.

“The carers are friendly, caring and really go the extra mile to look after residents.

“People suffering from advanced dementia like my mother had are not easy to deal with but the carers at Kingsleigh were so patient and gave her the best care possible.

“They made the transition from her living in her own home to living at the care home so easy and it was great that we did not have to move her during the last days of her life.

“They really supported me throughout my mother’s care and after her death and I cannot thank them enough for what they did for us.”

Della said she still has a good relationship with staff at the home and she wants more people in Burnham to be aware of the work they do.

She said she has submitted a positive report to the CQC praising the home and would encourage people to pop in and look at the facilities.

“People in Burnham need to know that this home is there and that it is a great facility for people,”Della said.

“The staff who work at Kingsleigh are passionate about their jobs and I feel that it needs to be recognised.

“It is an asset to the community and I would like to see more people in the community recognising that.”

Julie Andrew, deputy manager of Kingsleigh Residential Home, said: “Della’s mother was a pleasure to know and to look after and the whole family were lovely and we are pleased that we could support them. It is nice to be appreciated.”
