CREECH St Michael hosted more than 2,000 people for the seventh Party in the Park on Saturday.

The family friendly community event features a traditional daytime fete and evening music festival and is organised by local volunteers and the parish council.

The daytime event had 50 stalls; demonstrations from Skintight Samba, Clubbercise, Bounce and Burn and Tae Kwon Do; reptiles to handle; Creech Bake-Off cake competition; and family games including tug o' war and egg tossing.

The activities were compered by Cllr David Fothergill, the leader of Somerset County Council.

The evening event had three live bands – The Dusk Brothers, Pygmy Chimps and Haus Band.

The event kept adults and children entertained with bouncy slides and video games.

More than £1,100 raised in a raffle will be donated to the Stroke Association in honour of team member David Knight, who died earlier this year.

A spokesman for the organisers: "We are delighted that Creech Party in the Park continues to be a successful event.

"We’re really happy it was so successful this year and we raised lots in the raffle. It is a fitting tribute to our great friend David, who will be

deeply missed from our team."

The proceeds from the event will fund next year’s family day, as well as other local projects such as a pensioners lunch, tree planting, clean-up days, park benches and donations to school, children’s clubs and the youth club.
