A HOME in a small village was badly damaged in a blaze earlier today (Saturday).
Fire crews were called to several reports of the property ablaze in Stockham Lane, West Bagborough, at around 7am.
Three fire engines from Taunton, Williton and Nether Stowey, along with the aerial platform from Taunton were sent to the incident.
A water carrier from Bridgwater was also sent due to the remote location of the building.
On arrival at the scene, two further fire engines were requested, one each from Taunton and Wellington, as well as a welfare unit from Burnham-on-Sea, and a specialist hazardous materials officer.
By 8.30am, the incident commander reported that the whole house was "fully involved in the fire" and firefighters were removing roof tiles and exposing hotspots.
By 9.19am crews had made "steady progress" and were cutting away and damping down.
At 11am the service said the property had been "100 per cent damaged by fire and smoke".
Fire crews were leaving the scene of the fire, which is believed to have started accidentally. There were no reports of anyone being injured.
