FIREFIGHTERS freed a woman from her car after a crash near Chard.
Two fire engines from Taunton and Chard together with a rescue tender from Taunton were called at 6.43pm on Friday (July 19) to Castlemain in Buckland St Mary following reports from police of a single car crash.
When fire crews arrived at the scene they discovered a woman was trapped inside a vehicle and was unable to exit due to its position.
Crews set to work stabilising the car before extricating the lady, using hydraulic cutting equipment, into the hands of paramedics who were standing by.
The woman was given first aid at the scene before she was taken to hospital by land ambulance as a precaution.
Crews made the vehicle and scene safe before leaving duty of care with the police.
The incident was under control by 7.08pm.
