A WEATHER warning remains in place this morning after Somerset was battered by a huge thunderstorm overnight.
After warnings of a storm yesterday across the county it finally arrived at around 11pm, with Somerset skies aglow as lightning struck, accompanied by a soundtrack of rumbling thunder.
Today, a yellow weather warning remains in place from the Met Office with more storms possible.
However, forecasters are predicting a cloudy start, with warm sunshine developing throughout the day.
"A cloudy start in the west, with a few showers," a Met Office forecast said.
"This cloud will clear during the morning, with plenty of very warm sunshine developing.
"The sunshine will turn hazy this afternoon and some low cloud may linger round western coasts."
