A YOUNG Bridgwater woman has come away with an impressive medal haul from the annual British Transplant Games.
Keeleigh suffered from a very rare kidney and liver disease and in late 2010 was told she was in full kidney failure and her liver was beginning to give up.
Fortunately a donor was eventually found and Keeleigh underwent a life-saving 13-hour operation on December 17, 2011.
She had another scare recently, spending 12 weeks in hospital over Christmas, but has thankfully made a remarkable recovery which has allowed her to compete at the recent games in Newport.
Keeleigh, 20, won three gold medals in archery, shotput and discus and a silver in the ball throw competition, and has qualified for the European Games.
"Although it is great to come home with the medals, it is more a celebration where people get to speak out and promote the importance of organ donation," Keeleigh said.
"It really brings home how important it is to speak to your loved ones and find out what their plans are regarding organ donation."
