THOUSANDS of people have spent the day making their way around the marvellous Taunton Flower Show in Vivary Park today.

This is the 188th Taunton Flower Show, and the incredible amount of things to see and do at the show once again highlights why it is one of the biggest events in the Somerset calendar.

Somerset County Gazette:

Nigel Handbury, vice chairman of Taunton Flower Show said: "We have had a lot of people through as the weather has been pretty kind which always helps.

Somerset County Gazette:

"We have a huge amount of entertainment across a number of areas from the Main Arena with the likes of BMX shows to dog display teams, the Festival Village with live music and theatre, the Seeds of Knowledge marquee with guests speakers from various horticultural disciplines give talks, the ever-popular Wine Marquee, Beekeepers Marquee, Fountain Green and that is before you get to the show tents themselves."

Somerset County Gazette:

Mr Handbury said he was extremely pleased with the feedback the Taunton Flower Show team had recieved so far.

Somerset County Gazette:

"We have had lots of positive feedback. The show couldn't happen without the dozens of volunteers who give up their time and effort," Mr Handbury said.

Somerset County Gazette:

"This is also the first year all the children's entertainment has been completely free as we try to make the event as inclusive as possible.

Somerset County Gazette:

"One of the things I have been really impressed with is the honesty and community spirit, people handing in lost items, including a credit card and £40 cash."

Somerset County Gazette:

Mr Handbury said that for him, it was fantastic to see the fruits of everyone's labour pay off and make another fantastic show.

Somerset County Gazette:

"We have also had positive meetings with the new Somerset West and Taunton Council which mean the Taunton Flower Show will remain being held in Vivary Park for the foreseeable future."
