SIR - At a time when we should all be doing as must as possible to save energy and reduce our carbon 'footprints', a new suggestion on how supermarkets could do better on this issue has emerged. At the moment, supermarkets use one per cent of all electricity used in the UK. This amounts to the power required for 800,000 homes in one year! Yet, if doors were put on ALL supermarket fridges, it could reduce their electrical use by up to 40 per cent.
It seems French supermarkets are already doing this, so, shouldn't ours be too?
