THE fourth annual Buckland St Mary Flower Show has seen more than £850 raised for a life-saving local cause.

Event organiser Sally Rixon said: “The hall looked amazing and was packed with stunning exhibits despite the huge variation in climate over the last few weeks.

“So many came to support this year’s charity, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

“At least three people talked about how they had the misfortune to use the expert emergency services of the air ambulance.

“With each mission costing an average of £3,000 and with 1,394 missions to support last year it was obvious that this charity is in need of public support, and it was apparent that everyone at the show felt that way.”

The Needham family kept everyone sustained during the show, providing people with large slabs of cake, tea, coffee and Prosecco.

This year’s raffle had some prizes donated by local businesses.

Sally added: “A big thank to The Candlelight Inn, The Cotley Inn, Jordan’s Courtyard Ilminster, Cottage Flowers Ilminster and Tesco Chard.”
