NEARLY 600 of the 700 places for the 33rd annual Taunton 10k road race, supported by SWT Council and Everyone Active, on Sunday, September 29 have been taken.
Organisers Taunton Carnival Committee expect the remaining places to be filled before the official closing date on September 21.
The race starts and finishes at Everyone Active’s Blackbrook Pavilion and runs through the Holway area before going out into the country via Stoke St Mary and Haydon.
Race Director John Lewis said: “The limit is set to reflect the narrow roads on part of the course, traffic conditions and the facilities at Blackbrook Pavilion.
"We feel it’s better to disappoint those who don’t get a place than to compromise safety in any way.”
All finishers will receive a bespoke metal medal, a t-shirt courtesy on Everyone Active and an introductory pass the Blackbrook Pavilion complex.
