SPOTLESS school uniforms, brand new pencil cases and clean lunch boxes can only mean one thing - the summer holidays are over for another year and it’s back to school.

Hundreds of students across Basingstoke and Deane returned to their studies last week after six glorious weeks off.

Parents shared photographs of their little ones as they prepared for their first day back.

Rebecca Hiller said last Thursday marked the first day back for her daughter, who is in year 1, and her son, in year 2, both at Old Basing Infant School who were a mixture of excited and nervous about heading back to school.

Meanwhile for Connor Disotto this school year marks a special one, his mother Emma Lyons said. She told the Gazette: "He suffered from a brain haemorrhage at Birth and is lucky to be alive, so this makes it even more special that's he's now started big school this term."

She added: "He absolutely loved his first few days and comes home beaming with smiles - even with two lots of homework already."
