THIS is the tragic condition Jenny the spaniel was found in.

The dog was found in in Martock, South Somerset, in a shocking condition.

Rescuers took her to St Giles Rescue Centre, near Taunton, via the dog warden.

Vets at the centre diagnosed a very painful, infected mange that has made her loose fur as well as several different eye infections.

She is un-chipped, so her background is unclear, though she appears to have been a loved pet - once.

Jack Linnell, from St Giles Rescue, said: "We are trying to raise attention for ‘Jenny’ as we hope somebody may be missing her.

"Our experience has shown us that she may not originally be from the Somerset area."

The rescue's in-house vet, Sarah, is treating Jenny's physical ailments and their specially-trained staff and behaviourist will give her all the support and attention she needs to fully recover and eventually find her forever home.

St Giles Animal Rescue are also fundraising to care for Jenny via http://easydonate.org/DDHD004.

The centre never turns dogs away, regardless of their condition.
