OWNERS of a cafe in Minehead have made the 'hard decision' to close down.

Kidz Cafe, based at the Old Hospital, is set to close on October 18 after opening 18 months ago.

In an emotive post to its Facebook page, manager Kate Lynch described how it was a 'huge struggle' to 'let go of what will never be'.

She said: "It is with the heaviest heart that I have to say Kidz Cafe will be closing.

"It has been a hard decision that I have been trying to hold off for some time now and a huge struggle between my head and my heart, but it has come to a point where I have to accept reality and let go of what will never be.

"I’m sorry I couldn’t bring to life the cafe I always intended for you to enjoy, however I do feel lucky to have had this chance to try my own business and for getting to know so many of you.

"Thank you so much for your support and encouragement, a lot of what we have achieved in the last 18 months would not have been possible without it."

The cafe was opened to give families a place to go where children could play at the same time.

It was the first business to open in the Old Hospital.

Ms Lynch added: "We are very saddened to say goodbye but we do have a few more weeks to do it.

"Our last day will be October 18 and on this day we are going to hold a table top sale, any sellers wishing for a table please make contact for details. The more the merrier.

"Some items at the cafe will start to be sold off gradually so you will notice a change in space and toys etc. The menu will also become unused once stock has started running out.

"We will offer up some specials so be sure to check out our white board on your next visit.

"Please also be aware the opening hours have changed. It is now Tuesday to Friday 10am - 2pm and we are now closed Saturdays as that is our quietest day.

"Once again a massive thank you to you all, we hope you have enjoyed Kidz cafe as much as we have."
