I AM writing in response to Fay Chilcott’s letter (‘Close theatre’, Postbag, September 19) regarding the Brewhouse Theatre.

Although what she suggests is a good idea for Taunton, I totally disagree with her strong views about closing the Brewhouse Theatre.

I have been a supporter of the Brewhouse for many years and feel they are very much improved with the performances that they are showing.

Last night they had a Michael Jackson tribute artist. The theatre was pretty much packed out and I know that my family and I had a super time, as well as others that attended and said what a great show it was.

I realise this is not everyone’s cup of tea, however, just seeing how packed out it was says something, doesn’t it?

Put the right show on, and people will visit and enjoy themselves!

They have the cinema nights which are always good value for money and are enjoyable and I believe that they hold these during the daytime, too.

They are holding Christmas craft workshops which I think have sold out and, of course, there is always the Christmas panto for families to enjoy.

For me, this is a lovely venue, albeit small and cosy, and I look forward to the seeing the next few shows I have booked before the end of the year.

At the end of the day, we can all have our opinion and life would be boring if we all liked the same things!
