NINE bags of litter containing everything from plastic bottles to syringes have been cleared from a Taunton park.
Keith Hunt, Taunton's Litter Heroes Ambassador for Keep Britain Tidy, took part in the litter pick on Friday, September 27, alongside staff from Claims Consortium Group, in Victoria Park.
They collected lots of waste from the park as part of Somerset Wildlife Trust's Big Taunton Litter Pick.
Mr Hunt, who has been working to keep Taunton tidy, said he was shocked by the amount collected at the park, but is now pleased it's a nicer area for everyone to enjoy.
He said: "Staff from Claims Consortium Group in Taunton joined me to spend a couple of hours filling nine bags of litter which contained 111 drinks cans, 57 glass bottles, and 38 plastic bottles which have all been recycled.
"Other litter collected included fast food containers, clothing, sanitary waste, cigarette litter, syringes and other general waste.
"It was shocking to see how much rubbish was found, especially in the children's play area.
I'm pleased how much difference this makes and that Victoria Park is a much tidier and safer place for everyone."
