AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after part of a supermarket has been substantially damaged after an incident this morning.
A source has told the Gazette that a lorry was leaving the car park of the Sainsbury’s store, in Wallop Drive around 9am this morning when it backed into the perimeter wall.
As a result, the wall collapsed damaging a number of parked vehicles.
It is believed that seeing what had happened, the driver drove off from the scene without informing store staff.
Police were called to the scene and an investigation has been launched.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: "We are working with the police to support their investigation."
Hampshire Constabulary have been contacted for a comment.
