FLORAL tributes have been left for the victims of a tragic crash in Taunton.

The driver of a car involved in the crash, named locally as Conner Palmer, died after the incident, which happened at around 2.40am on Thursday (October 17).

Two other people remain in a serious condition at Southmead Hospital, in Bristol.

After the incident, Somerset firm Bridgwater Jobsolutions paid tribute to a 'highly-valued' member of staff.

"Unfortunately this morning we recieved the sad news that our highly valued member of staff Conner Palmer had passed away," a spokesperson said.

"Conner was a hard working, determined man who gave 110% every single day at work.

"Your team mates and us here will miss you dearly. Our thoughts are with your family and friends at this sad time. Rest in peace Connor."

A spokesperson for the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed they have launched an independent investigation into the incident, after Avon and Somerset Police said the vehicle had failed to stop for officers before the crash.

The IOPC spokesperson said: “Initial information suggests the incident happened after a car failed to stop for police.

"It later crashed near to Taunton railway station in Clifton Terrace at around 2.30am and set alight.

"After being notified by Avon and Somerset Police we sent investigators to the scene and to the post incident procedure.

"The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has sadly since died.

"Two other occupants sustained serious injuries and have also been taken to hospital.
