GOING into hospital will be more fun for some young patients thanks to a group of golfers.

The entrance to the children's ward at Musgrove Park Hospital has had a makeover thanks to a donation from Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club.

Club members raised £7,000 for the Musgrove League of Friends to help make the area more welcoming for children and their families coming onto the ward and a more pleasant environment for those waiting to go home.

The area has been decorated with an interactive colourful tree mural with magnetic words that can be moved around. The project was arranged by the hospital’s Arts for Life programme.

Chairs and desks have been added to the entrance area to Acorn Ward and Woodlands Day Unit to provide a drawing area for youngsters, along with more comfortable seating for parents.

Sister Caroline Jackson said: "We wanted to make this area welcoming and inviting.

"Children will be coming up and down here to Acorn Ward and this has been our chance to make the environment more appropriate if they are coming in or waiting to go home."

John Godley, Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club captain, said: "We were pleased to assist the League of Friends with this project and it is great to see the results."
