FREE parking will be available on Saturdays in the run up to Christmas in a number of towns and villages across the district.

Somerset West and Taunton Council is offering free parking all day on the four Saturdays leading up to Christmas in its car parks at Dulverton, Dunster, Minehead, Porlock, Watchet, Wellington, and Williton.

However, Taunton car parks have not been included.

Cllr Marcus Kravis, executive member for economic development, said: “We are keen to give residents and visitors an added incentive to shop in our towns and villages in the festive season. I hope that people will take advantage of this opportunity to park for free and support our diverse local traders across the district.”

SWT is also offering free parking to support the Dunster by Candlelight event this year.

It will waive charges in the Warren Road Upper car park (opposite Butlins) for people using the Park and Ride service from 5pm on Friday 6 December.

More information on the Dunster by Candlelight bus service can be found at dunsterbycandlelight.co.uk/buses-and-parking

The free parking offer does not include the Railway Station car park in Minehead which belongs to Somerset County Council (SCC) or on street parking which is also the responsibility of SCC.

Parking at all SWT car parks in Wiveliscombe is free.
