A SOMERSET couple took their love of Halloween to the next level by hosting a spooky Halloween party for their wedding reception.

Becky Dalziel, 46, and her husband, Richard, tied the knot at Weston-super-Mare Registry Office on Saturday (October 26) and celebrated their marriage with 150 costume clad guests at a Halloween party in The Victoria Hotel.

Staff at the Burnham-on-Sea hotel transformed the couple's wedding venue into a ghoulish haunted house complete with cobwebs, skeletons and pumpkins.

And the couple didn't stop there. Their  wedding cakes, which were baked by Debbie Richards and Nigel Smith, were in the shape of a pumpkin and a dark, spooky graveyard.

Becky, who is a teacher at The King Alfred School in Highbridge, said her wedding was 'fantastic' and she 'can't stop smiling.'

She said: "I love Halloween and regularly like to dress up as literary characters in the classroom so it seemed appropriate to ask my friends to dress up too.

"I was overwhelmed by how much effort everybody made - including my colleagues from school (but I don't think they will be teaching English dressed as a pirate any time soon).

"People dressed up as the clown from IT, a zombie nun, the bride of and Frankenstein, Beetlejuice, pirates, escaped convicts, devils, witches and the main character from Avatar.

"It was particularly lovely that lots of my friends are people I've met due to teaching their children and many of them brought along those ex pupils to see me. It made my day.

"The staff at the Victoria Hotel were incredible. They all dressed up and Shaun McCann, the pub's owner, even sang us a song.

"Shaun provided a wonderful buffet, a fantastic DJ Andy Myers (who dressed as Keith from the Prodigy) put on some fantastic tunes and some good friends made an amazing Halloween theme wedding cake.

"It was wonderful and when you cut it open their were love hearts inside

"It was a fabulous day and we were thrilled our friends made so much effort."
