A NEW cafe and soft play centre has opened at Minehead's Old Hospital.

The Buzzinbees Soft Play and Honeypot Cafe has opened in the location of former Kidz Cafe, which closed earlier this year.

The new venture, from Rachel and Tony Smith, aims to create a hub of fun for families in the area.

The new cafe officially opened on Friday, November 1.

Mrs Smith said: "The opening went really well.

"Everyone had fun and they have said it’s much needed for the town."

The pair have lots of experience, as they have been doing soft play hire for the last year.

But as travelling isn't ideal with a young family, they wanted to find a base for their business venture.

Mrs Smith added: "I have been a stay at home mum for the last 5 years as I have two daughters.

"Me and my husband have been doing soft play hire around Somerset and Devon for the last year at weekends but with a young family the travelling isn’t working out.

"So we wanted a base to set the soft play along with a cafe where parent, grandparents, friends and family at meet while enjoying food and drink.

"We are really excited for the future and have lots of plans for the place."

The couple are getting the menu together and have varying opening hours while things are getting set up.

There are plans to extend open hours to afterschool, but the family say they need to settle into their new routine first.

The initial opening hours will be Monday to Saturday, 10am until 2pm.
