A MAN was freed from a van after a crash.
Emergency services were called to Somerton Road, Compton Dundon, near Somerton, at around 2.30pm yesterday (November 10).
The crash involved a van and a car.
Fire engines from Somerton and Street were sent to the crash.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "Fire control received a call from the ambulance service informing us of a road traffic collision with persons still trapped inside one of the vehicles.
"We immediately sent two fire engines from Somerton and Street, and specialist rescue tender from Glastonbury to the scene.
"When the fire crews arrived at the scene they found one car and one van involved in the collision, with a male occupant still within the van.
"They immediately set to work stabilising the van and making plans to extricate the casualty.
"Access was gained through the rear of the van and the male removed using a spinal board.
"The vehicles were removed off the main highway to a safer place, and crews ensured that the scene and vehicles were safe before leaving the incident in that hands of the police and ambulance services."
