SINGER songwriter Antony Chipperfield has released a new Christmas single - Snowballs Not Cannon Balls.

Living full-time on the road with his wife and daughter, Antony performs all over the UK and Europe, but his base is West Somerset.

Two years ago, Antony recorded an album in South West France with Mark O’Sullivan of Arkam Media Glastonbury and so this year, he decided to regroup in Somerset this year to record his Christmas single.

He gathered some help along the way including Lorcan Drysdale, an award-winning piper who plays the West Highland bagpipes, as well as Emma Hill, the female vocalist in Somerset’s cover band Scarlet.

They filmed the single at Selworthy Church on Exmoor and at Lynch Mill in Allerford.

Antony put word out for a choir to join them too, but unfortunately no one showed. Luckily Lorcan’s daughter, the sound engineer’s daughter as well as Antony’s daughter and wife were a lovely substitute.

Antony said: “This song has a wonderful message of peace, peace for everyone. And I honestly feel we are ready for a fresh new Christmas song here in the UK that appeals to everyone.

“Within the past 14 days this track has received well over 2,300 views on YouTube.

“The life we have chosen is simplistic and rich and we get to experience so much on the road.

“I don’t desire great material riches but opportunities for my music to be heard by more people would be great.

“I know that if this single does really well, I would take great delight in using some of the money for good causes such as homelessness, forgotten soldiers and those affected by war.

“I actually have a project in motion soon for another release with proceeds to go towards a war veteran charity in time for the 8th of May 2020.”
