A PERSON has died after being hit by a train.
The person was sadly hit and died at the scene near Highbridge.
The line was blocked between Taunton and Weston-super-Mare, after the incident at around 8am this morning (December 17).
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Highbridge shortly before 8am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
The line was blocked and there were delays while emergency services attended the scene.
All lines have now been reopened following the incident.
A spokesperson for National Rail said: "Trains are now able to run between Weston-super-Mare and Taunton.
"As trains return to normal, trains may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or be cancelled. A normal service is expected to resume from 11am."

🚆Trains are currently unable to run between Weston-super-Mare and Taunton.
Train users are being advised to check before they set off on their journey.
