SEVERAL flood warnings remain in place today (Monday, December 23) following heavy rainfall in the last week.

The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for Currymoor, stating that all pumping stations were running at Saltmoor and Northmoor.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "We will monitor the level of the River Tone and start pumping at Currymoor as soon as we can.

"There is less rain forecast in the next few days and we will get pumps on as soon as river levels allow."

There are similar alerts for East Lyng and Muchelney, while in West Somerset the Washford River level remains high at the Beggearn Huish river gauge as a result of further recent rain falling on saturated ground.

An Environment Agency spokesman said: "There is a possibility of flooding for the Horner Water, Rivers Aller and Washford, and the Hawkcombe, Monksilver and Doniford Streams.

"We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking rivers for blockages."
