MAKERS of Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor, Neighbours, Take Me Out and Grand Designs in the UK, Fremantle is coming to Taunton with its outreach programme - Access All Areas.

The free all-day workshop will be held on Saturday, February 8 at the Creative Innovation Centre in Taunton.

Access All Areas is focused on bringing entry-level talent into Fremantle, from areas or backgrounds where people might not view a career in TV as a viable option.

Hosting workshops across three UK locations for 150+ people, the scheme results in four four-week paid placements at the Fremantle head office in London with travel and accommodation included, and a year’s mentoring from a TV industry professional.

In February 2020, Fremantle will also be delivering workshops at venues in Stoke-on-Trent and Carlisle.

David Liddiment, non-executive chairman, UK, Fremantle said: “Fremantle continues to be committed to engage and inspire creatives from a wide range of backgrounds, as we know that great ideas and bold thinking come from a truly representative workforce.

“Access All Areas is a fantastic scheme that enables us to develop those who aspire for a career in the media industry.

“We want to create a level playing field for talent entering the industry, and we have learnt and will continue to learn just as much from our entry-level talent as they can from us.”

Over summer 2019, the first cohort of trainees completed their placements and began their 12-month mentoring programme.

Sonal Tandon, a 2019 trainee, said: “I think the Access All Areas programme has given me the cliched ‘foot in the door’ I needed. Having now had paid, longer term experience I can build on this more easily and apply for more opportunities, within Fremantle or beyond, to develop my skills further.

“More importantly though, it has helped me to focus my aspirations by showing me what different teams do and allowing me to find the teams and roles I feel at home in.”
