A 35-YEAR-old woman was caught stealing board games from The Range after her accomplice escaped without her.

Victoria Chadwick, of Broadbent Avenue in Latchford, appeared in Warrington Magistrates' Court on Thursday following the incident on December 13.

Hannah Scott, prosecuting, said Chadwich entered the Winwick Road store with an unknown man and they filled a bag with board games.

The court heard how, when a member of staff approached them, they ran into the car park and jumped into a waiting taxi.

Ms Scott explained how the male got out with the bag of games and ran away, leaving Chadwick, of previous good character, at the scene.

The goods were never recovered.

Mark Lever, defending, said Chadwick fully accepts what she did and entered a guilty plea.

He told the court how she had met the man in Warrington town centre that morning and they decided to steal the games to sell them and buy heroin.

Mr Lever added that Chadwick has mental health difficulties.

Chadwick is now subject to a 12-month conditional discharge and must pay £50 in compensation to The Range.
