TWO Taunton nurseries have been honoured at a national award ceremony.

On Saturday, January 19, the National Nursery Recognition Awards were held in Leicester, with representatives from the Taunton area in the running.

Brock House Day Nursery, in Norton Fitzwarren, won the award for the ‘best indoor learning environment’.

The nursery came out on top against five other settings from across the country.

Deana Hunt, nursery director said: “It was so nice for all the hard work of my team to be recognised in this way, and that their dedication and passion for early years work hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“We enjoyed the award ceremony, celebrating and it really was a lovely way to show my team how appreciated they are.”

Each nursery was nominated by parents and members of their communities.

Highgrove Nursery at Queen’s College was also named as a runner-up.

It was shortlisted in the ‘best team leaders’ category.

Nursery manager, Donna Kershaw said: ‘It was an honour to be shortlisted for best team leaders and we were even more delighted to be chosen as runners-up.

“Highgrove Nursery is committed to providing the highest standards of care and education and this recognition will be celebrated by the whole team.”
