JAZZ and blues guitarist Remi Harris will be launching his new project Remi Harris & The Electric Beat Combo at CICCIC in Taunton next week.

Inspired by the psychedelic rock and blues sounds of the 60s and 70s, Remi will appear on stage with bassist Darren Beale who currently plays with the Boomtown Rats and long standing friend and collaborator Shane Dixon on drums.

They will be performing original material as well as new arrangements of rock and blues classics from Led Zeppelin to Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac.

Remi said: “I grew up listening to rock and blues and it’s still one of my favourite styles of music. I’m really looking forward to playing it live again.”

Primarily self taught with the help of his Dad’s guitar magazines and records, Remi started playing at the age of seven, initially inspired by rock and blues guitarists of the 60s and 70s such as Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green and Jimmy Page.

In his late teens he developed an interest in jazz music, in particular artists such as Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery and Stan Getz.

Remi continues to gain recognition for his virtuoso talent, with the recent honour of his first signature model from Fylde guitars. In his career to date, Remi has performed at Montreal Jazz Festival, Buckingham Palace and BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
