A WOMAN was freed from a car after a crash on Sunday afternoon (February 2).

The incident happened at Lype Steep, Cutcombe, Wheddon Cross, at around 1.50pm.

Police alerted firefighters to the incident and called for crews to free the casualty, a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

"On arrival the crews from Minehead and Dulverton confirmed that there was a single vehicle RTC and a female was still inside," they said.

"Fire crews were stabilising the vehicle and carrying out casualty care until the arrival of ambulance.

"(They) were able to extricate the female through the rear tailgate of the car and hand responsibility of the casualty to the ambulance service.

"The vehicle was made safe by the fire service and then handed the scene over to the police."
