IT is lamentably apparent from your Postbag pages that a number of people have yet to grasp how life has moved on.

This does a great injustice to the many people who have made Taunton their home and others who already live here.

Many of these people find the place, in many respects, 20 years behind the times and not always in the best sense.

There appears to be no vision for the future nor awareness of the possibilities before us.

Perhaps this is the best argument for a Taunton Town Council to voice to our concerns and give some sort of “small p” political direction to where we want to be in 20 years' time?

When we ourselves emerge from our all absorbing home activities we find ourselves driving the length and breadth of England past so many towns who have been left behind.

Their economic base has disappeared and they have yet to find a new function.

Is this Taunton’s future?

Change or die!
